48% of Italians choose ecological and sustainable holidays. According to the study sponsored by Espresso Communication for ConLegno, 48% of Italian tourists in a sample of 1200 people between 18 and 65 are careful about resource consumption, use of renewables, shared forms of mobility, organic food and zero km sourcing when choosing their holiday location and facilities.

It is a trend encouraged by hoteliers and businesses that are becoming increasingly green, taking measures to ensure their activities have zero impact - an approach especially appreciated by young people from the big cities.

The greenest destinations in Italy seem to be Sardinia (38%), acknowledged by the European Commission as a sustainable destination par excellence, Puglia (34%), Trentino (31%), Sicily (29%), Marche and Umbria (27%).
