30 YEARS OF ORGANICS: 30 YEARS OF SANA
30 years of success for the agriculture of the future

“SANA is a milestone for the Bologna Exhibition Centre and it is a pleasure to celebrate its thirtieth birthday in such a positive moment for the organic market,” announced Gianpiero Calzolari, president of BolognaFiere at the opening of the convention “30 YEARS OF ORGANICS: 30 YEARS OF SANA. 30 years of success for the agriculture of the future”. There was also great satisfaction expressed by Alessandra Pesce, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Agricultural Policy, Forestry and Tourism, who, during the opening address, added, “SANA renews and grows each year. It is a representation of Italy that we like, a beautiful page of sustainability.”

The focus of the debate was on the transformation of Italian agriculture, which over the years has seen the growth and consolidation of organic cultivation, today a hallmark of the excellence of our production and a sector in which there are numerous business and growth opportunities. For the future of agriculture organics is a driver of a production chain that stretches from the fields all the way to our dining tables, involving the transformation industry to offer quality products that are created with respect for the environment, safeguarding the biodiversity of our territory and our food and wine heritage.

Todays discussions centred on the future strategies for developing the sector, with speeches from Paolo Carnemolla, President of FederBio; Simona Caselli, Assessor for agriculture, hunting and fishing at the Emilia-Romagna regional administration; Paolo De Castro, Vice-President of the Agriculture and Rural Development Commission at the European Parliament; Giorgio Mercuri, President of the Alleanza Cooperative Italiane, for the Food Agriculture sector; Roberto Moncalvo, President of Coldiretti, and Giorgio Santambrogio, President of ADM. The event was chaired by Isidoro Trovato, who writes for Corriere della Sera.

Other important meetings, in addition to the presentation of the data from the SANA OBSERVATORY, included: “The role of microbiome in the genesis of illness – new nutritional and therapeutic ideas” curated by the Foundation Institute of Science and Health; “The future of food: organics are here” and “The soil in organic agriculture: biodiversity, fertility, carbon sink” promoted by CCPB and “Which technical equipment for organic agriculture, the rules for correct usage” with FederBio, “The “other” medicine: from pharmaceuticals to cosmetic creams to animal use, the new frontier” organised by SISTE, the Italian Society for Science applied to medicinal plants and health products.
