The renewed collaboration between Sana Food and V-Label Italia is a step forward to support the growth of the sector and promote a more sustainable, transparent and conscious diet.

The Italian market for vegetable alternatives continues to register significant growth. With a value of about EUR 710 million and an increase of 7% in value and 4% in volume compared to the previous year, the sector is constantly expanding. In 2023, the consumption of plant-based products increased by 2.8% compared to 2022. Globally, Bloomberg expects the value of the plant-based alternatives market to grow from the current USD 44 billion to USD 162 billion by 2030.

In Italy, according to Eurispes data from May 2024, 7.2% of the population follows a vegetarian diet and 2.3% a vegan diet. In this scenario, the V-Label trademark is essential not only to guarantee the suitability of products for those adopting this lifestyle, but also to support companies wishing to enter the sector with transparency.

The collaboration between V-Label Italia and SANA Food, which is being renewed for the second consecutive year, marks a new chapter for the food service and Horeca world. Thanks to this partnership, a support and training project for catering professionals and entrepreneurs has been created, aimed at improving the management and offer of vegetarian and vegan options.

Through specific courses, participants will learn how to deal with the challenges of cross-contamination, the use of vegetable proteins and the preparation of veg dishes in a safe and efficient manner. The aim is not only to ensure a high quality offer, but also to foster greater awareness of the philosophies behind these food choices.

Who is V-Label

Founded in 1976 as the institutional trademark of the Italian Vegetarian Association, V-Label quickly established itself as a key reference for the vegetarian movement and later became a mainstay of the vegan world as well. Since the 1990s, the trademark has undertaken the certification process for vegetarian and vegan products and services, growing into a global market leader.

V-Label is a synonym of guarantee for all those who choose a veg lifestyle, not only because it is the institution with the longest history, but also because the inspections it carries out to establish the suitability of a product exclude methods that may not be reliable, such as self-declaration.
