Simone Calugi, following in the footsteps of his great-grandfather, grandfather and father, gave life to Selektia Tartufi, a new dynamic reality located in the province of Florence aimed at the catering service, distribution and export to bring Tuscan products and tradition all over the world. A long experience handed down for four generations, since 1860, to achieve a single goal: Excellence.
What are the strengths?
All Selektia products are born from the love for the territory and from the passion for cooking and good food. They are cooked according to traditional recipes to create genuine and tasty products to be brought to tables all over the world using top quality ingredients and with the sole addition of natural flavourings. A company in continuous growth and evolution, the result of great research and passion, based on the founding values of the Family, Territory and Product Quality.
How do you combine the value of sustainability and what actions have you taken to reduce the impact on the environment? What certifications or awards have you obtained for your sustainable practices?
The company can be said to be sustainable in several respects, starting from the adoption of an organic line, which concerns preserved and dried products based on truffles and gourmet products. The commitment to reduce the environmental impact is also very strong. The windows of the structure allow energy savings both in summer and in winter. The whole company demonstrates a marked sensitivity towards sustainable packaging, striving to reduce the use of plastic and to recycle and reuse glass and paper. Furthermore, the installation of photovoltaic panels and the compilation of a sustainability report are planned by the end of 2023.
