Growth in Italian organics touching on 15% of Confagricoltura farmers

According to Severino del Giudice, in charge of Confagricoltura organic farming in the Friuli Venezia Region and attending the association’s national meeting, its member farms dedicate more than 25% of their crop land to organic produce in Italy.

Another important factor emerging during the meeting is that organic businesses are strongly export oriented with 74% present on international markets for more than 5 years. Major export destinations include Germany, France and Northern Europe as a whole; the United States is the top market outside the EU.
